FAQ
What's an Impulse Response (IR)?
An Impulse Response (IR) is a fundamental concept in signal processing and acoustics, representing the output of a system when presented with a very short, ideal input signal known as an “impulse”. This response captures how the system, such as a room, speaker, or electronic device, reacts over time to that impulse.
In practical applications, impulse responses are used to characterize the acoustic properties of spaces or the behavior of audio equipment. By analyzing the IR, one can understand how a room adds reverb, how a speaker colors sound, or how a filter shapes a signal.
How do I use an IR?
To use an impulse response, you can use audio plugin in your DAW. There are many free and paid plugins to choose from.
For example Lancaster Audio Pulse.
